The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released information about a captured U.S. underwater vehicle, the REMUS 600. REMUS 600 is an advanced U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) designed for underwater reconnaissance, seabed mapping, mine detection and classification, environmental data collection, and underwater target search. The system can operate at depths of approximately 600 meters, relying on inertial navigation, a DVL (Digital Vehicle Level) system, acoustic navigation, and GPS. When surfaced, it can independently complete most tasks without continuous operator contact. Side-scan sonar, precise environmental sensors, and a data logging system are among its key functions. The UUV captured by the IRGC Navy also belongs to this series and is currently in the service of the force's experts. The significance of this trophy extends beyond the system itself; the mission memory, recorded paths, sonar data, search patterns, navigation settings, and software configurations accurately reflect the activities of U.S. unmanned underwater vehicles in the Strait of Hormuz, possessing significant intelligence value from a tactical, information gathering, and operational perspective.

Analysts warn that the US and Iran could soon resume mutual attacks after Trump rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. "I don't think Iran is about to surrender or give in in any way," said Mohammad Elmasri, a professor at the Doha Graduate School. "So it's possible to see an escalation before the midterm elections. It's not just Iranians suffering from severe economic pressure due to the US naval blockade and ongoing sanctions; the Trump administration is also facing similar challenges.
